Whirling winds whisk wicked witches in whimsical circles.
Flowers are torn from their beds.
Water viciously slurped.
Fish swallowed like pills.
Debris twirling, a mad dancer that
Blocks the sun’s warmth.
Streaks of erratic lightning dance as its brief partner.
A shout of “TWISTER!” is cruelly spun until its breath is lost.
Animals flee to the underground,
But one girl risks the outside to rescue a terrier.
A home ripped up by its foundations
And spirited away to the land of Oz.

Author's Comments

A poem I wrote awhile ago. It's just about the first few pages of the Wizard of Oz. It's not my favorite poem I've ever written, so be gentle with any criticism.
